Survey Results
A summary of the results of the Autumn 2009 player survey

Firstly, a big "Thank You" to everyone who filled out the survey. It's definitely given us some food for thought! It's taken some time, but finally here are some results.
General QuestionsFirstly the great thing to see is that everyone enjoyed the league, which was the main thing after all! On the rules the consensus is that everyone understands them but there is some unhappiness with certain rules. No prizes for guessing which one was referenced most in the open text question. A lot of people would like a bigger hall, although many of the comments around this said that it was more about having space for the spectators. The majority would also like to start earlier in the evening and people are prepared to pay a little more for a bigger hall and an earlier start. That's good because if we go that way we will need to pay more.
Team SizeThe verdict on team size was very clear. No changes there then.
Playing FrequencyThe most complicated question to answer was the one about how many games people want to play next year. The one thing that is clear from the results is that people want to play weekly or close to weekly. The idea of playing fortnightly was definitely not a popular one.
Verbatim CommentsSome of the comments made were very helpful and enlightening, others less so. A few common themes came through which we need to look at for next year. Hall sizeThe hall is a good size for playing, but would be better if there was space for specators off the court. Number of teamsIf more teams are to come into the league it should be done in a way that keeps everyone playing at the same sort of pace as they currently do. 5 Second RuleNeeds to be clarified and teams should be penalised if they don't get rid of a ball quickly. RefereeingSome people have been pointed out as not obeying the referees and on the other hand some referees aren't watching the game and refereeing it. Team CompositionShould we allow 4 guys and 2 girls in order to give the guys more playing time? Spectator InterferanceSpectators are pushing or deflecting the balls so that they head to their team or a team they are supporting. This has definitely been seen and noted and some people have been spoken to about it. Some penalty may be required against individuals who do this. Double Hit Rule (Quelle surprise!)OK, I confess! When this issue first came up I made up the answer. Everyone hated it, but it made no sense to change it part way through the league especially after I'd clarified it a couple of times to everyone. I've since clarified it with the UKDBA and rest assured we'll change this for next time! |
